Pool calculator questions
Short answers to the questions we get most across the tool set.
How do I calculate my pool volume?
Multiply the surface area by the average depth to get cubic feet, then multiply by 7.48 for US gallons. A 16 by 32 foot pool with a 5 foot average depth holds about 19,150 gallons.
How much salt does a saltwater pool need?
Most chlorine generators run at 2,700 to 3,400 ppm. Going from zero to 3,200 ppm takes roughly 27 pounds of salt per 1,000 gallons of water.
How much chlorine should I add?
Hold free chlorine between 2 and 4 ppm. The amount depends on your gallons and the strength of the product, so dose by product type rather than by the scoop.
What size pump does my pool need?
Pick the pump by flow rate. Divide your gallons by the turnover hours you want, then divide by 60 to get the gallons per minute the pump has to move.
Are these pool calculators free?
